Rodney Howard earned the starting job at the outset of the 2021-22 season and finished with a strong stretch. In between, the 6-10 center missed five ACC games and needed additional time to return to form after suffering an ankle sprain. He finished the season as Tech’s fourth-leading scorer at 6.5 points per game, connecting on 56.1 percent of his shots from the floor, and its second-leading rebounder at 5.1 per game. Howard also led the team in blocked shots with 20. He played his best basketball over the last nine games, when he averaged 10.2 points and 6.3 rebounds while making 63.5 of his field goal tries. He posted a pair of double-doubles against NC State (14 points, 11 rebounds) and Syracuse (19 points, 10 rebounds).
