THE FLATS – Liz Galarza will represent the Georgia Tech cross country teams at the 2022 NCAA Championships on Saturday, Nov. 19 in Stillwater, Okla. Galarza will compete in the women’s 6K race which is set to start at 9:20 a.m. CT.
Galarza is the first Jacket to qualify for nationals since her former teammate, Nicole Fegans, qualified for the championships during the 2020 season.
At the 2022 NCAA South Region Championships, Galarza earned an impressive eighth-place finish with a personal-best time of 19:55.4 in the women’s 6K. She was one of four Jackets to garner All-Region honors and had the best finish of all Tech runners at the meet.
Galarza was one of four individual qualifiers from the South Region. The NCAA Championships will feature many of the top runners and teams in the country. In the women’s race, the ACC has two individual qualifiers – including Galarza – and six teams competing.

Competitive Drive Initiative
In a unified endeavor, Georgia Tech, the Georgia Tech Foundation, Georgia Tech athletics and the Alexander-Tharpe Fund have come together to accelerate funding for student-athlete scholarships with the launch of the Competitive Drive Initiative. The initiative kicks off with the Accelerate GT Match Program, where any new gift to the A-T Fund’s Athletic Scholarship Fund made through Dec. 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Georgia Tech Foundation, up to $2.5 million. Should Accelerate GT reach its $2.5 million fundraising goal, the matching gift would result in a $5 million impact for Georgia Tech athletics.
