DURHAM, N.C. – Georgia Tech’s game against Florida State on Friday at the 2011 ACC Baseball Championships has been rescheduled for Saturday morning at 9 a.m., due to inclement weather in the Raleigh-Durham area.
The No. 3 seeded Yellow Jackets (40-18) and the No. 2 seeded Seminoles (41-16) were originally scheduled to start their final game of bracket play at 3 p.m. Friday, but the earlier game between Virginia and Miami was suspended in the second inning after a severe thunderstorm hit the area. The Virginia/Miami game will resume at 6 p.m. Friday (weather permitting) at the Durham Bulls Athletic park.
The championship committee also decided that the North Carolina/Wake Forest game, originally scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, will be played following the completion of the Virginia/Miami game.
Georgia Tech, Florida State, Clemson and NC State, grouped in pool B of the tournament, all have even records at 1-1 through two games played at the tournament.
The Jackets fell 9-0 to Clemson in the opener, but defeated the Wolfpack by a 6-5 score in 15 innings Thursday on freshman Mott Hyde’s stealing of home plate. It was the longest game in ACC Championship history, and the longest game time-wise in Georgia Tech history at five hours and seven minutes of play. Click here for the recap and highlights.
The game will be televised live by Fox Sports South.
