Georgia Tech head basketball coach Paul Hewitt has purchased 250 tickets for Tech students to tonight’s first-round National Invitation Tournament game against Ohio State.
Tech (14-14) and the Buckeyes (17-14) tip off at 7 p.m. at Alexander Memorial Coliseum at McDonald’s Center. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN2, while radio coverage in the Atlanta area is available on WSTH-FM (107.1).
The first 250 Georgia Tech students to present a valid Buzz Card at the Georgia Tech Ticket Office (until 5 p.m. Wednesday) or at Alexander Memorial Coliseum Gate 2 (after 5 p.m.) will receive a free ticket.
Students who had already purchased a ticket on Monday or Tuesday can receive a refund of the $5 price by taking their ticket to the Georgia Tech Ticket Office, no later than 5 p.m. Thursday.
Hewitt purchased the student tickets as a gesture of appreciation for their support this season.
“Student attendance and enthusiasm has been tremendous,” said Hewitt. “Everyone knows how significant home court advantage has been this season, so I wanted to let the students know how much we appreciate them and how important their support is to our basketball program.”
Tickets for the general public, priced at $20 for a reserved seat, can be purchased at the Georgia Tech Ticket Office until 5 p.m. today, and then at Alexander Memorial Coliseum Gates 1 and 2, beginning at 5 p.m.
