Four Women's Tennis Jackets Graduate With High Honors

Dec. 30, 2012

THE FLATS – Four former Georgia Tech women’s tennis players graduated with high honors when Georgia Tech held its commencement ceremony in December and the Yellow Jackets finished the fall with a 3.54 team grade point average.

The 3.54 team GPA was the highest of any Tech women’s team in the fall semester.

Former Jackets Lynn Blau, Viet Ha Ngo, Jillian O’Neill and Barbara Tomai all earned their Georgia Tech degrees. In addition, current Yellow Jackets Alex Anghelescu, Jasmine Minor and Natasha Prokhnevska all earned Dean’s List honors with at least a 3.0 GPA. Senior Elizabeth Kilborn and junior Muriel Wacker both finished the fall ’12 semester with perfect 4.0 GPAs and earned Faculty Honors recognition.

“I am so happy for the young ladies who graduated in December,” head coach Rodney Harmon said. “They excelled both on-court and in the classroom at Georgia Tech. Our current team had a great semester academically with a 3.54 team grade point average. I want to wish a special thank you to the GT academic department for all their support and assistance to the student athletes, and to assistant coach Alison Silverio for working so closely with the players and the academic department.”

Blau was a three-time All-ACC Academic Team selection while Ngo earned selection to the team in 2011. O’Neill was named the 2012 ACC Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a 2012 ITA All-American.
