THE FLATS – No. 23 Georgia Tech returns home to host No. 17 Clemson for a Top 25 Showdown at Bobby Dodd Stadium as part of Rivalry Weekend on the Tech campus. Saturday’s game will kick at noon ET on ESPN and 680 The Fan.
14TH ANNUAL MICHAEL ISENHOUR TOY DRIVE
The Georgia Tech Student-Athlete Advisory Board will host the 14th annual Michael Isenhour Toy Drive, beginning at the Nov. 15 football game vs. Clemson at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Fans are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or a monetary gift to the game. Student-athletes representing Georgia Tech’s athletic teams will be stationed at every gate entrance to collect toys for charitable donation.
The Toy Drive is named in honor of former Georgia Tech basketball letterman and Student-Athlete Advisory Board member Michael Isenhour, who died in 2002 following a battle with leukemia. Isenhour spearheaded the first Toy Drive in 2001 to help families affected by 9/11, and since then, SAAB has continued the annual project in his memory.
HALL OF FAME JOE
Joe Hamilton, one of the all-time greats in Georgia Tech football history, will be honored on the field during Saturday’s game vs. Clemson. He will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame on Dec. 9. He is the 13th player in Georgia Tech history and the 18th person overall associated with Yellow Jackets football to be elected into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Georgia Tech has rushed for 300 or more yards in 45 of 90 games and 400 or more yards 14 times in the Paul Johnson era. The Yellow Jackets are 36-9 when rushing for 300+ yards, including an 11-2 mark in the last 13 games. Johnson is 71-18 at the FBS level when his teams rush for 300+ yards. Georgia Tech has now rushed for 200 or more yards in 10 consecutive games – the longest active streak among FBS schools.
SERIES HISTORY
Clemson is Georgia Tech’s fourth-most played rivalry. Saturday marks the 80th series meeting, with Tech holding a 50-27-2 all-time advantage.
- From 1905-14, the Yellow Jackets and Tigers met every year on Thanksgiving Day. Georgia Tech was 8-2 vs. the Tigers during that span.
- Tech head coach Paul Johnson is 4-3 all-time against Clemson, including the 2009 ACC Championship Game (later vacated).
- Saturday will mark the 17th time that Tech is ranked when facing Clemson – and the first meeting with both teams ranked since the 2009 ACC Championship Game. The Yellow Jackets are 12-4 when ranked against the Tigers.

Georgia Tech has rushed four times on 3rd & long situations (7-9 yards), racking up three first downs and a TD – 11.0 yards/carry ranks 2nd in FBS. GT is 10-for-17 on 3rd & long for 209 yards and 4 TDs. Tech’s 4 TDs are 2nd-most nationally behind Mississippi State (5).
TOUCHDOWN TIMMY
Redshirt junior QB Tim Byerly leads the Yellow Jackets with seven rushing TDs on only 45 rushing attempts in 2014. Byerly is averaging a touchdown on every 6.4 rushing attempts.
OPPORTUNISTIC JACKETS
Georgia Tech’s 101 points off turnovers are the team’s most since 107 points off turnovers in 2000. Tech’s +70 points-off-turnover margin is the greatest since 2000 (+74, 107-33). Georgia Tech has converted 15 of its 21 takeaways into points (14 touchdowns, 1 field goal).
3RD DOWN CONVERSIONS
Georgia Tech leads the nation in 3rd down conversions with a conversion rate of 59.3 percent (70 of 118). Georgia Tech is tied for 9th nationally in 4th down conversions (first in ACC), converting 75 percent of its 4th down tries (9 of 12).

The first 25 Georgia Tech students to show their BuzzCard at each of the Paul Johnson Radio Shows will receive either a free dessert or free wings. Additionally, there will also be a GT burger special for $5.95 and free valet parking.
