Flower Falls on Day Two of All-American Championships

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – For Immediate Release Georgia Tech Women’s Tennis October 1, 2006

Rookie Kirsten Flower fell in the third round of the prequalfiying tournament of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, which began play Saturday at the UCLA Tennis Center in Los Angeles, Calif.

Sunday’s match was to decide who advanced to the qualifying tournament, which begins Monday morning.

In the first match of her college career, Flower made quick work of Becky Bernard, a seeded player from UC Irvine, 6-0, 6-1, before recording a comeback victory in her second-round match against TCU’s Ana Cetnik, 2-6, 6-0, 6-4. The freshman then met Miami’s Laura Vallverdu, one of the top 16 teams in the prequalifying tournament, in the third round, falling 6-2, 6-1.
