WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Georgia Tech men’s tennis rising senior Christopher Eubanks and volunteer assistant coach Kevin King teamed up to take the doubles title at the USA F19 Futures event on Friday afternoon. This title comes on the heels of Eubanks defeating King in the title match of the USA F17 Futures on Sunday.
This is the first pro doubles title for Eubanks, who just wrapped up an All-America junior campaign on The Flats. King won the doubles title at Mexico F3 Futures with Russia’s Nicolaas Scholtz. Eubanks and King teamed up for the USA F17 Futures in Winston-Salem last week, reaching the finals before falling to Brandon Holt (USA) and Riley Smith (USA).
The pair won their first round match 7-6 (3), 6-3 against Vasil Kirkov (USA) and Gianni Ross (USA) before advancing to the semifinals by a walkover. The Jackets pocketed a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Chris Eaton (GBR) and Wake Forest’s Borna Gojo (CRO) to reach the finals again. King and Eubanks claimed the title with a 6-3, 6-5 victory over the second seeded Dominik Koepfer (GER) and Luiz David Martinez (VEN).
King and Eubanks will play each other in the singles semifinals of the event on Saturday at 10 a.m.
