March 8, 2004

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech backcourt mates B.J. Elder and Jarrett Jack each were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference teams announced Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference Media Association.

Elder, a 6-4 junior from Madison, Ga., earned a spot on the All-ACC second team, while Jack, a 6-3 sophomore from Fort Washington, Md., made the third team. Elder made the team for the second time, having earned a third-team spot as a sophomore last season.

“I have said all year that B.J. Elder is our most talented player, and that Jarrett Jack is our most important player,” said head coach Paul Hewitt. “I’m happy to see both of them get due recognition.”

Elder is the ACC’s sixth-leading scorer at 16.0 points per game, and also ranks eighth in the conference in field goal percentage (42.1 pct.), ninth in free throw percentage (77.1), tied for 10th in three-point percentage (36.9) and sixth in three-point field goals per game (2.07). He has scored 20 points or more four times in his last nine games this season.

He has shot 47.4 percent from the floor this season, best among Tech’s guards, 35.9 percent from three-point range and 78.8 percent from the free throw line. He also is the best rebounding guard in the conference, ranking 17th overall at 5.0 per game.

In ACC games, Jack has averaged 13.3 points per game.
