Georgia Tech’s Mary Kate DuBard, E.C. Gibbs and Nazar Trilisky were named to the 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Cross Country Teams as announced by Commissioner John D. Swofford, Wednesday.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
DuBard, a freshman from Rock Hill, S.C., earns the honor in just her first-year on the Flats. She garnered NCAA All-South region honors while finishing 22nd at the South Region Championships on Nov. 15, 2008 in Maryville, Tenn. DuBard led the Tech women in all six races competed in on the year.
Gibbs, a senior Management major, also earns his first spot on the academic team. The Cullman, Ala. native, paced the Yellow Jackets runners in three of the six races this season, and ran a career-best 23:45 in the 8K while finishing 20th out of 213 competitors at the Auburn Invitational.
Trilisky receives his second-career honor on the Academic team after being named to the list in 2005. A computer engineering major, the senior from Snellville, Ga. led the Yellow Jackets runners at the ACC Championships and NCAA South Regional in both the 2006 and 2008 seasons. Trilisky was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District III second team in 2006, and holds a career GPA of 3.95.
