ATLANTA (Oct. 22) — Georgia Tech’s doubles tandems of Mason Miller and Sabrina Pardo, an d Bobbi Guthrie and Tamarra Jenkin both advanced to the finals of their respective flights Friday on the opening day of the Yellow Jacket/Holiday Inn Midtown North Invitational women’s tennis tournament at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
Miller and Pardo advanced to the finals of the ‘A’ doubles flight, and Guthrie and Jenkin qualified for the ‘C’ flight finals with a pair of victories.
Miller and Pardo downed Detriviere and Lord of Mississippi State, 9-8 (3) in the first round and Hagedorn and Lewis of Iowa, 8-4, in the second. Guthrie and Jenkin opened with an 8-1 win over Baylor’s Aguillar and Gonzales and reached the final with an 8-6 win against Field and Levin of Indiana.
Pardo, Guthrie, Jenkin also won their opening round singles matches, as did Tech freshman Charlotte Pernet.
The Yellow Jacket Invitational continues at the Bill Moore Tennis Center on Saturday and Sunday.
