Dodd After Dark Movie Moved to Mewborn Field

THE FLATS – The second installment of Georgia Tech’s free Dodd After Dark summer movie series, “The Imitation Game,” this Friday, June 26, has been moved to Mewborn Field, the Yellow Jackets’ softball facility, and will begin at 9 p.m.

“The Imitation Game” was nominated for 2014 Academy Awards in eight categories, winning an Oscar for best adapted screenplay, and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as real life British cryptanalyst Alan Turing, who in the film is hired to decrypt German intelligence codes for the British government during World War II. The film is rated PG-13.

Mewborn Field is located at the corner of Fowler Street and Eighth Street, next to McCamish Pavilion. Free parking is available for patrons at Peters Parking Deck, and the parking lots for McCamish Pavilion and O’Keefe Gym. Non-metered street parking is also available after 5 p.m.

Gates to Mewborn Field will open at 8 p.m. Seating will be available only in the outfield grass. Chairs will be allowed on the warning track lining the fence. Limited concession snacks will be available, including popcorn, candy, bottled water and Coca-Cola products. Trash and recycling bins will be available around the perimeter of the field.

Items allowed inside Mewborn Field include blankets, lawn chairs (only on the warning track), unopened bottles of water, bags (all bags will be searched upon entry), strollers (must be parked in a designated area just inside the stadium).

Items NOT allowed inside include food, beverages (with the exception of unopened bottles of water), alcoholic beverages, coolers, thermos bottles, TVs, ice bags, horns or other noisemakers, laser pointers, video cameras, cameras with lenses longer than four inches, pets, large flags, banners or signs, weapons, any other items deemed dangerous or inappropriate by security.
