Dock Earns All-Region Honors as Tech Cross Country Competes at NCAA South Region Championships

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Led by an all-region finish by senior Amy Dock, the Georgia Tech women’s cross country team finished seventh at the NCAA South Region Championships Saturday at Lambert Acres Golf Club. The Yellow Jacket men placed 14th.

Dock covered the six-kilometer course in 22:34.92 to finish in 15th place and earn all-region honors for the second time in her career. She also placed 10th at the 2000 NCAA South Region Championships.

Following Dock were senior Eboni Crosby, who finished 28th, and freshman Carly Matthews, who took 32nd. Rounding out the scoring for the Jackets were juniors Neta Ezer (52nd) and Amanda Gilley (62nd). Tech tallied 180 points to finish seventh.

On the men’s side, senior Joe Poliseo led the Jackets with a 51st-place finish. He posted a time of 34:05.00 in the 10K race. Freshman Rob Kuhn was the Jackets’ second runner, placing 70th. Also scoring for Tech were sophomore Gaben Moore (97th), senior Jimmy DeYonker (98th) and freshman Clark Rivers (99th). The men scored 376 point to finish 14th.

Tennessee won both the men’s and women’s races, while Alabama took second on the men’s side, and Florida State finished second in the women’s race. Each of these teams advance to the NCAA Cross Country Championships, which will be held November 25 in Terre Haute, Ind.
