Entry #15

Where do I start?

I am so full of joy right now. For the first time in Georgia Tech Women’s Basketball history, we beat a second-ranked team, when we beat North Carolina, 66-62 tonight. There is no greater feeling than to know we are making history each and everyday. Tonight was definitely a team effort and I was so proud that I was able to step in and play my roll. Before the start of the game Coach told us in our pre-game speech we have to go out there and play relentless. We have to dive on every loose ball. We have to execute, rebound, decrease turnovers, protect our home court, and most importantly we have to BELIEVE. And these things are exactly what we did. In this game every possession was extremely important. We knew we had to take it one play at a time and we knew getting defensive stops was a must. With about 17:00 minutes left in the game, we found ourselves down by fifteen. We could have easily given up and just let the game play itself out but we were not done fighting. Coach made some great adjustments and we executed, created turnovers and the next thing you know we were back in the game. For so long now Coach has told us over and over it’s not what happened to us, it’s how we respond and adversity reveals character. Tonight we responded in a great way and our character was definitely revealed. We showed everyone that we are a physical determined team and we don’t back down. We all have each others backs. If one person shot is not falling it doesn’t matter, they find other ways to help out and other teammates step up and contribute. We still all motivate and encourage each other. We are truly a family and we know that when we are all on the same page, we can weather any storm.

We all understand now though that the journey does not end here. We are going to take everything we’ve learned and all the motivation we have with us up to North Carolina this weekend when we play Duke Sunday in Durham, N.C. Please remember to watch the game, it is on Fox Sports South in Atlanta and it starts at 1 p.m. Thanks for all the support from our fans and stay tune for more wonderful Georgia Tech women’s basketball.
