Details Set for Helluva Block Party

THE FLATS – Helluva Block Party, the new destination for Georgia Tech football pregame entertainment, is set to debut this fall.

Helluva Block Party will transform the Georgia Tech football pregame experience by bringing the excitement and pageantry of Tech football to one of the most visible and vibrant areas of campus and the city of Atlanta – North Avenue. A three-block stretch of North Avenue – from Techwood Drive/Centennial Olympic Park Drive to Tech Parkway/Luckie Street – will be temporarily closed to traffic on gamedays to accommodate the activities. The area will close to traffic six hours before kickoff and the party will begin four hours prior to kickoff. The area will reopen for traffic at the beginning of the third quarter.

Surrounded by some of Georgia Tech’s most iconic locations, including the south entrances to Bobby Dodd Stadium and Tech Tower Lawn, Helluva Block Party will include:

  • Tailgating (begins four hours prior to kickoff) – Options for no-hassle tailgating in Helluva Block Party include a wide variety of food vendors that feature some of the best food and beverages that Atlanta has to offer, including Coca-Cola products and Helluvienna Lager and Ale of an Engineer from New Realm Brewing Co. Additionally, all-inclusive private tailgate setups are also available on Tech Lawn and in premium spaces along Yellow Jacket Alley through REVELxp Premium and Turnkey Tailgating. The tailgating activities will feature fun for the whole family that was previously part of Wreckfest on Callaway Plaza, including interactive games and activities for fans of all ages.
  • Yellow Jacket Alley (two-and-a-half hours prior to kickoff) – The Yellow Jackets’ arrival at Bobby Dodd Stadium will have a new home as a centerpiece of Helluva Block Party. The team’s buses will now arrive at the corner of North Avenue and Techwood Drive/Centennial Olympic Park Drive and, led by the Ramblin’ Wreck and the Georgia Tech marching band, the team will proceed along North Avenue and enter Bobby Dodd Stadium at Gate 1. Fans are encouraged to line the way to give the Jackets a raucous reception as they arrive at Bobby Dodd Stadium for gameday!
  • Entertainment (immediately following Yellow Jacket Alley) – Once the Yellow Jackets are in the stadium, a pregame concert featuring a variety of popular musical acts will begin. The pregame entertainment will also include the traditional pregame show by the Georgia Tech Marching Band.

Helluva Block Party will shut down 30 minutes prior to kickoff to allow for fans to be in their seats when the team takes the field inside Bobby Dodd Stadium.

“We couldn’t be more excited to build on the great pregame traditions of Georgia Tech football by bringing them to one of the most vibrant locations of our campus and our city – North Avenue,” director of athletics J Batt said. “Being in the shadow of Bobby Dodd Stadium and Tech Tower, Helluva Block Party will merge the great traditions of our campus with an enhanced pregame atmosphere for fans.

“Additionally, many of our gameday traditions – including Yellow Jacket Alley and Wreckfest – have been previously centered on or near Callaway Plaza on the north end of the stadium.” Batt continued. “Beginning in 2024, construction on the new Student-Athlete Performance Center will make it unfeasible to continue to hold those events in those locations. By making these two great traditions centerpieces of Helluva Block Party, we can get a jump on that transition.

“We can’t wait to debut our new gameday experience to our incredible fans this fall!”

Full information about parking areas affected by the new arrangements will be available soon.
