Delass and Gvelesiani Claim Doubles Title at Georgia Tech Invitational

ATLANTA Jordan Delass and George Gvelesiani defeated Nick Cromydas and Nathan Sachs of Vanderbilt by a score of 8-5 to claim the doubles title in the “B” Flight at the Georgia Tech Invitational on Sunday. The Tech pair also defeated teams from Furman and Georgia State over the weekend. The Jackets’ duo of Zachary Rath and Scott Blackmon could not give Tech a doubles’ sweep in the tournament as they were defeated by Matic Omerzel and Ricardo Gonzalez of Georgia 8-3 in the Flight “A” finals.

In other finals action, Gonzalez defeated his doubles’ partner Omerzel in the Flight “A” singles’ final 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5) while David Baxendine of Tennessee won the “B” Flight title over Vanderbilt’s Evan Dufaux 7-6 (4), 7-6 (7).

The Jackets will be back in action next weekend as they will travel to Columbia, S.C. to compete in the South Carolina Fall Invitational.
