Entry #3

European Championship Day 5

We are back in the hotel now and in a few hours we will begin the second part of the championship with a game against Germany.

The first two days in Liepāja were rough because of two devastating loses. Enough said about those two games, we were able to move on and come out stronger than ever for the last game in the group stage.

Russia has always been one of the greatest basketball nations, they were also our group winner but in the third game we beat them which was a huge energy and confidence boost for the rest of the tournament. Even though it was a great win for us, it had no impact so unfortunately we didn’t advance to the playoffs.

Yesterday we had a much needed day off from games. We had practice in the morning and then the rest of the day to ourselves. The weather has been great everyday here and just a few minutes from the hotel we have the most amazing beach but of course on the one day we have off we had the worst weather. The rain was pouring down and we spent most of our time watching movies and entertaining ourselves at the hotel.

Most of us went to dinner with family members that are here to support us. Frida had a bus load of family members arriving into town as she will play her last games in front of her family before she moves to Atlanta. Dani’s mom is coming today also to see the second part of the tournament.

It’s game day again, the sun is shining again (just our luck..) and in little over an hour we will make our way to the arena to play the first of six placement games. This is where the challenge begins. We are playing to avoid demotion to the B division but also to prove to everyone and most importantly ourselves that we don’t belong in this group.

Wish us luck!!!!

HEJA SVERIGE!!!!!!!!!
