THE FLATS – After a weekend off from competition, the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s cross country teams head to Greenville, S.C. to compete Saturday in the inaugural Furman Cross Country Classic hosted at the Furman University Golf Course.
The meet begins with the women’s 6K at 8:30 a.m., followed by the men’s 8K at 9 a.m. The Paladins welcome 32 men’s and 34 women’s college teams to the event.
Georgia Tech opened the season at the UGA meet, which featured dual meets against Georgia and Mercer. Both the men’s and women’s teams defeated Mercer (15-46; 17-46), but fell to Georgia (21-36; 18-44). Katie Townsend finished first for the Tech women and third overall, while Jeremy Greenwald crossed the line first for Tech and also placed third overall.
In the most recent USTFCCCA poll, the Tech men’s squad was ranked fourth in the South Region. The Yellow Jacket men were picked to finish 10th in the ACC, while the women were picked to place 12th in the league.
