Cross Country Teams Ready For ACC Championship

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s cross country teams will continue their season this weekend when both travel to Raleigh, N.C. to compete in the ACC Championships.

Both teams will be looking to improve on their performances in last year’s ACC meet, as the Yellow Jacket men placed sixth and the women were seventh.

The course for this year’s meet will be a familiar one for the Jackets, as both teams competed at the Wolfpack Invitational earlier this season, with Tech finishing third in both the men’s ans women’s races. Tech’s women’s harriers placed three runners in the top 15 and scored 85 points to finish behind host NC State and Virginia. The Jackets’ men’s team also was third with four runners in the top 20, for 68 points, which was behind defending ACC Champion NC State and Virginia.

Leading the Yellow Jacket women will be sophomore Amy Dock (Charlotte, N.C.), who has been Tech’s top finisher each time she has competed this season, and has been in the top 10 three times. Dock also won the Georgia Intercollegiate Championship earliter in 2000.

On the men’s side, the Jackets have been led by rookie Kyle Rabbitt (Red Oak, Ga.), who has finished in the top 10 on three occassions and like Dock won the Georgia Intercollegiate Championships.

Following the ACC Championships, Tech will compete in the NCAA South Regional on November 11 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
