Georgia Tech point guard Javaris Crittenton was named Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week after leading the Yellow Jackets to a pair of victories over NC State and Connecticut.
Crittenton, who shares this week’s award with Brandan Wright of North Carolina, was honored for the second time this season. Jared Dudley of Boston College was named ACC Player of the Week.
For the two games, Crittenton averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals. The Atlanta native had 13 points, nine rebounds, five assists and a steal in yesterday’s victory over Connecticut, Tech’s third straight win.
On the season, Crittenton is averaging 13.9 points, 5.6 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game.
Crittenton’s numbers are even better in ACC games, in which he leads all league freshmen with 15.4 points, 4.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
