The Yellow Jackets finished competition at both the Duke Bonk Invite and the Miami Invite today, registering three victories.
At Duke’s Bonk Invite, sophomore Johnnise Renaud won the consolation finals match in the Black bracket. Renaud, the number two overall seed in the draw, rallied from losing her first set 6-2 to Virginia’s Maci Epstein, to win the next two sets, 6-1, 6-3.
In the White bracket consolation finals, sophomore Paige Hourigan was defeated by North Carolina’s Jessie Aney, 7-5, 0-6, 6-4. Senior Kendal Woodard also fell in her singles consolation final to TCU’s Caroline Wegner, 6-3, 6-1.
In Miami, sophomore Alexis Porkopuik made her appearance in the Green Draw finals, but ultimately was defeated by Fernanda Contreras, 6-4, 6-0. Junior Rasheeda McAdoo won the consolation finals match in the Orange Draw after a walkover. Junior Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer took third place in the consolation bracket in the Orange Draw after recording a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-3) win.
The next fall tournament on the schedule is the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American tournament in Los Angeles, Calif. Sophomore and senior have been selected to compete in the main doubles draw and Hourigan will also compete in the qualifying singles round. Sophomore is both an alternate in singles and has been selected for the pre-qualifying singles.
