CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Alana Clooten placed fourth in the women’s weight throw to lead the 23rd-ranked Georgia Tech women’s track & field team on the first day of the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Eddie Smith Field House/Belk Track on the University of North Carolina campus.
Clooten, a junior from Fairbanks, Alaska, tossed the weight 60 feet, 4 inches to finish fourth at the championship meet. Junior Kimery Hern placed seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 58 feet, 1 ¼ inches. Tech freshman Megan Manning placed 14th with a personal-best mark of 49 feet, ¾ inches.
The Jackets joined Virginia Tech as the only two teams with more than one athlete to place in the top eight of the weight throw. Tech registered seven points from today’s performances.
