Casillas Qualifies for the Platform Finals at USA Diving Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Georgia Tech’s Matt Casillas saved the best for last, as the junior diver finished 10th in the semifinal round on Thursday to qualify for the finals in the senior men’s platform dive at the 2017 USA Diving National Championships held at the McCorkie Aquatics Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio.

Having competed in both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard diving events earlier this week, Casillas finished 10th overall with a score of 277.10 in the morning preliminaries to move on to the semifinals on Thursday afternoon.

Casillas then bettered his score in the semifinals, posting a score of 285.45 overall to place 10th and advance to the finals of the platform diving event.

The finals will take place on Saturday, Aug. 12.
