Women’s Platform: Prelims | Finals
AUBURN, Ala. – Georgia Tech senior Matt Casillas qualified for the NCAA Championships by finishing fifth overall in the men’s platform on the final day of the 2019 Zone B Diving Championships at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center on Wednesday.
Casillas used a 358.70 in the prelims to advance to the finals before turning in a final score of 769.95 to finish fifth. With his outright qualification, the senior diver also earned a chance to compete at Nationals in the 3-meter as well after placing 12th on Tuesday.
The qualification marks the second-straight year that Casillas has made the NCAA Championships after competing last year in the men’s platform.
Also competing at Zones in the men’s platform was Nolan Mallet, who turned in a prelims score of 246.90.
Sophomore diver Camryn Hidalgo narrowly missed the cut to qualify in the women’s platform, finishing eighth overall with a finals score of 509.20. She advanced from prelims after scoring a fifth-place score of 252.55. Also in prelims, Paige Gohr finished the year with a score of 190.65.
