COLUMBUS, Ohio – Georgia Tech’s Matt Casillas posted a ninth-place finish on Saturday in the senior men’s platform finals at the 2017 USA Diving National Championships held at the McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio.
After finishing 10th overall with a score of 277.10 in the preliminaries and 10th again with a score of 285.45 in the semifinals on Thursday, Casillas topped both of those marks with a score of 322.60 in the finals on Saturday to post a ninth-place finish.
“Matt waited to the last day to do his best list,” commented Georgia Tech diving coach John Ames. His dives were a little off all week, but today he was really sharp! We’re very happy with a ninth-place finish.”
He also competed in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard diving events earlier in the week.
