THE FLATS – Georgia Tech sophomore placekicker Harrison Butker has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District 4 Football Team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Butker, a native of Decatur, Ga., has handled placekicking and kickoff duties in each of Georgia Tech’s nine games this season. He leads the team in scoring (62) on 41-of-41 point-after tries and 7-of-12 field goal attempts. He currently ranks ninth on Tech’s career scoring by kicking list with 145 points.
The industrial engineering major owns a 3.51 grade-point average.
It is the second year in a row that a Yellow Jacket has earned Academic All-District distinction; Will Jackson earned All-District honors in 2013.
Georgia Tech (7-2, 4-2) travels to Raleigh, N.C., to face NC State (5-4, 1-4) for the first of its two games against ACC Atlantic teams. Saturday’s game will kick at 12:30 p.m. ET on the ACC Network.
