Men’s diver Tony Burkhardt and women’s diver Amy Sutton were named the Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, January 12, 2004.
Burkhardt, a freshman from Phoenix, Ariz., led the diving competition for the Georgia Tech men’s team with a first-place performance on the three-meter board with a score of 300.75. In the one-meter diving competition, the Phoenix, Ariz. native finished in fourth place with a score of 273.38.
Sutton, a junior from Hoover, Ala., qualified for the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships this past weekend with a season-best score of 270.00 on the three-meter board to finish third in the event for the Yellow Jackets. The Hoover, Ala. native tallied a score of 230.48 on the one-meter springboard to finish fifth in that event for Tech.
