THE FLATS – After earning back-to-back tournament MVP honors, Georgia Tech volleyball freshman Mariana Brambilla was tabbed the ACC Co-Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.
After opening her collegiate career as the Hyatt Regency Invitational MVP, Brambilla was named the Hyatt Regency Tournament MVP following her performance this past weekend. She turned in a career-high 19 kills against South Alabama on her way to helping Tech win its second tournament title and keep its unbeaten mark at 8-0. She led the team in kills in all four matches of the tournament and recorded two double-doubles.
The rookie outside hitter leads the team in kills and service aces and ranks second on the team in digs behind freshman libero Maddie Tippett. Her honor comes on the heels of fellow freshman outside hitter, Mikaila Dowd being named ACC co-Freshman of the Week last week.
Brambilla and the rest of the Yellow Jackets hit the road for the first time this season, heading to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the Hampton Inn Bama Bash. Tech will face off against Northern Illinois, Alabama and Marshall on Sept. 7-8.
