Kissimmee, Fla. – Freshman Carlos Benito fell in straight sets to fourth-seeded Florent Diep of Florida Friday at the USTA Clay Court Invitational, but Nathan Rakitt and Cole Fiegel each advanced in the consolation bracket.
The Madrid, Spain freshman, lost 6-3, 6-4 to Diep, who is ranked 52nd in the nation. Fiegel scores a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) win over Catalin Mateas in the consolation round of 32, while Rakitt defeated Kento Tanka-Tamaki of Pepperdine, 6-1, 6-3.
Rakitt and Fiegel advanced to face each other Saturday in singles, while also resuming doubles play Saturday in the consolation bracket against Pepperdine’s Tanka-Tamaki and Alexander Solonin.
