Feb. 11, 2014

THE FLATS – Wednesday night’s men’s basketball contest between Georgia Tech and Boston College is expected to be played as scheduled. The game remains set for a 7 p.m. start at McCamish Pavilion. For those who can attend the game safely, parking lots will open at 5:30 p.m. and doors will open to the public at 6 p.m.

Due to scheduling complexities, the ACC Game Postponement/Cancellation policy dictates that the only reason a game should be postponed and/or cancelled is if the conditions affect the safety of the teams or game officials involved. Provided the teams and officials are able to make it to the arena safely, the game will be played.

The Eagles arrived in Atlanta Tuesday afternoon and the game officials are in town and are able to get to McCamish Pavilion. Georgia Tech also has prepared in advance for essential game personnel to be available for the contest.

Due to the State of Emergency in the City of Atlanta, Georgia Tech strongly discourages the attendance of ticket holders who are not within safe walking distance of McCamish Pavilion. Georgia Tech students, faculty and staff on campus Wednesday are encouraged to attend the contest with free admission.

“It is unfortunate that we are in this set of weather circumstances for a second time this season,” said Tech director of Athletics Mike Bobinski. “While we caution our ticket holders coming from any distance to stay home and abide by any and all travel advisories, we do hope that we will receive the same level of outstanding support from our student body at tomorrow’s game,” Bobinski added. Two weeks ago when the Jackets played North Carolina under similar weather conditions, Tech’s student attendance swelled beyond 2,000.

Georgia Tech Athletics acknowledges that attending tomorrow’s game may be unsafe for many ticket purchasers. As such, the Tech Ticket Office is offering to waive the ticket transfer fee for the BC game. If you are unable to use your tickets for this game, we encourage you to help fill McCamish Pavilion by simply accessing your ticket account online and transferring your ticket to a friend. You can access your account by clicking HERE. The fee for transferring tickets will be waived. As always, student admission is free at the West Entrance to McCamish Pavilion.

Wednesday’s game will be televised throughout the state of Georgia on Fox Sports South as well as other cable outlets on the Eastern seaboard. The Georgia Tech radio broadcast can be heard in Atlanta on 680 the fan (680 AM or 93.7 FM) and nationally on Sirius satellite radio channel 134. The game can also be viewed online at ESPN3.com.
