Georgia Tech quarterback Reggie Ball was named Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Back of the Week after he passed for a career-high 320 yards and accounted for three touchdowns to lead Georgia Tech to a 27-21 victory over North Carolina.
The junior from Stone Mountain, Ga., completed 24 of 47 passes with two touchdowns and no interceptions against the Tar Heels. He threw a five-yard TD pass to P.J. Daniels and a 48-yard scoring strike to Damarius Bilbo. Ball also rushed for 20 yards, including a nine-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Ball also had a 33-yard reception to set up a field goal. Ball flipped the football to Bilbo, who rolled right and then fired across the field to Ball, who took the short pass and raced to the UNC 17-yard line.
Ball’s 320 yards passing is the best game by a Tech quarterback since 2001.
In his last three games, including his MVP performance in the Champs Sports Bowl, Ball has averaged 233.7 yards passing and 259.0 yards of total offense per game while completing 52 percent (53-102) of his passes, with five TD passes, two touchdowns rushing and two interceptions.
Ball and the 16th-ranked Yellow Jackets (2-0, 1-0 ACC) host Connecticut (2-0) Saturday at 6:45 p.m. at Bobby Dodd Stadium/Grant Field in a game that will televised on ESPNU.
