ATLANTA – Bailey Hunter, a 2006 and 2007 PrepVolleyball.com High School All-American from Hendersonville, NC, has signed a national letter of intent to play at Georgia Tech beginning in 2008, Georgia Tech head coach Bond Shymansky announced this week.
“Bailey is a fantastic all-around player, and a pure winner,” said Shymansky. “We are excited about having a player of her caliber join our program for the fall, and we know that she will be a great leader on the court as well as in the classroom because of her outstanding character.”
Hunter has led her Hendersonville High team to the 1-A state titles in each of the last three seasons, garnering state championship MVP honors all three years. A three-time 1-A MVP in the state of North Carolina, Hunter was a PrepVolleyball.com Junior of the Year candidate in 2006 and is listed No. 72 on the 2008 PrepVolleyball.com Senior Aces List.
“Bailey has the ability to take over a match, and demonstrated that ability in helping her team to three-straight titles in North Carolina,” Shymansky added.
Tabbed one of the PrepVolleyball.com’s Top 50 Recruits for the class of 2008, Hunter is an outside hitter that possesses a jump serve, good blocking abilities and she can pass well. She was coached by Graham McCormick and Hendersonville and plays club volleyball for Piedmont Triad.
