THE FLATS – Senior outside hitter Bailey Hunter was named Co-Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week along with FSU’s Fatma Yildirim the league office announced Monday.
Hunter helped Georgia Tech to a 2-0 record at the Georgia Tech Courtyard Classic. She was named MVP of the tournament and helped Tech to two sweeps, including a 3-0 defeat of Clemson in the ACC opener – the first sweep against the Tigers since 2005.
Hunter tallied 15 kills in each match and hit over .400 in both matches with just five errors on 60 swings for an impressive weekend .500 hitting clip. She led the team with a 5.00 kills per set average and had a team second-best 3.50 digs per set.
The Hendersonville, N.C. native recorded a season-best .419 hitting percentage against Clemson. She tallied her fourth double-double of the season against Georgia State and hit for an efficient .414 percentage.
Hunter now has 150 kills (3.85 k/s) on a .313 hitting percentage this season, as well as 97 digs (2.49 d/s) and 15 service aces (0.38).
Georgia Tech will put this season’s unbeaten 5-0 home record on the line this weekend against Boston College at 7 p.m. on Friday, followed by a Sunday showdown with Maryland at 1 p.m.
