PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Kelly Anderson advanced to the consolation quarterfinals of the Qualifying Round at the 2005 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships with a win over No. 49 Iva Gersic of New Mexico Wednesday at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Also playing Thursday afternoon is Georgia Tech All-American Kristi Miller, who earned a bye in both the prequalifying and qualifying rounds. The eighth-ranked singles player will begin competition in the main draw of singles as the No. 7 seed, facing 19th-ranked Emma Murphy of San Diego in the first round at 3 p.m. (EST). Miller is one of at least 12 players that will be making their first appearance in the tournament’s main draw and the first player from Georgia Tech to ever compete in the main draw at All-Americans.

The 64-player, 32-doubles team prequalifying tournament was played this past weekend at UCLA, with four players and doubles teams advancing to the 64-player qualifying tournament at Riviera, where eight players and four doubles teams advanced to the main draw, which begins Thursday.

Ending her strong run at All-Americans Thursday was junior Tarryn Rudman, who fell to Florida’s 34th-ranked Diana Srebrovic, 6-4, 6-4. The Johannesburg, South Africa native dropped just her first match of the fall after winning five matches to begin the season.
