ATLANTA – Seniors Anthony Allen and Joshua Nesbitt are on the preseason watch list for the 47th annual Maxwell Award, the Maxwell Football Club (MFC) announced Monday.

Forty-five FBS schools, from 10 conferences, are represented on the 2010 Maxwell Award list.

Allen (618) and Nesbitt (1,037) teamed with former running back Jonathan Dwyer in 2009 to become the most prolific rushing trio in Georgia Tech history, combining for 3,050 yards. Nesbitt, who is also on the Manning and O’Brien Award watch list, passed for 1,701 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2009.

The Maxwell Award has been presented to the most outstanding collegiate football player in America since 1937 and is named in honor of sportswriter Robert W. “Tiny” Maxwell.

Colt McCoy of the University of Texas was the recipient of the 73rd Maxwell Award for his outstanding performance during the 2009 season.

Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on November 8th and three finalists will be announced November 22nd.

The winner of the 2010 Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show which will be held on December 9, 2010.
