THE FLATS – Due to inclement weather expected from Hurricane Maria in the coming days, the Albany Collegiate Invitational at the Albany Resort in New Providence, Bahamas, has been canceled, Georgia Tech head men’s tennis coach Kenny Thorne announced on Wednesday.
The Yellow Jackets were expected to kick off the fall season Sept. 22-23 with singles and doubles matches against Michigan and Auburn in the inaugural tournament.
“Unfortunately, we aren’t able to travel to the Bahamas this weekend for our first fall competition,” Thorne said. “But more importantly, our thoughts and sincere prayers go out to those adversely affected by Hurricane Maria.”
The Jackets will now begin their fall slate at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. on Sept. 30-Oct. 9 before Georgia Tech plays host to the ITA Regional Championships on Oct. 13-17.
