THE FLATS – Georgia Tech and Notre Dame will meet on the gridiron four times in the next 10 years, the Atlantic Coast Conference office announced Tuesday.
Tech will face the Irish on Sept. 19, 2015, in South Bend, with Notre Dame returning to play in Atlanta on Oct. 19, 2019. Georgia Tech will return to South Bend in 2021 (date TBA) and will host the Irish in 2024 (date TBA).
The announcement of playing dates through the 2025 season formally seals the partnership between the ACC and Notre Dame and will feature an average of five games per year between ACC teams and the Fighting Irish over a 12-year span. The previously released three-year, 15-game schedule began with four games this fall and runs through 2016. The expanded slate released on Tuesday adds the matchups for the following nine years, with specific playing dates set through 2019.
Georgia Tech and Notre Dame have met 34 times on the gridiron with the Fighting Irish leading the series, 27-6-1. The Jackets have won two of the last three meetings, most recently in 2007 – a 33-3 victory in South Bend. Georgia Tech knocked off the Irish at the 1999 Gator Bowl by a score of 35-28.
