Georgia Tech junior quarterback Tevin Washington was added to the watch list for the 75th Maxwell Award, which has gone to the nation’s top collegiate football player since 1937.
Washington is one of five Yellow Jackets on watch lists for national awards:
JeremiahAttaochu (So., LB) — Bronko Nagurski Award
Izaan Cross (Jr., DE) — Ted Hendricks Award
Stephen Hill (Jr., WR) — Biletnikoff Award
Omoregie Uzzi (Jr., OG) — Outland Trophy
Tevin Washington (Jr., QB) — Maxwell Award
Former Georgia Tech standout Calvin Johnson was a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award in 2006. Joe Hamilton was a finalist in 1999.
Washington has guided Georgia Tech to a 6-0 record, its best start since 1966. He has passed for 10 touchdowns, 1,052 yards, and just two interceptions. He has rushed for 309 yards and six touchdowns. Last week against Maryland he rushed 32 times for 120 yards and two TDs.
