Volleyball Squares Off Against Georgia Tuesday

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech volleyball team squares off with the Georgia Bulldogs in the season’s first midweek match on Tuesday. The contest is set for 7 p.m. and will be held in the Stegeman Coliseum – the site of Georgia basketball. It marks the first time since the 1996 Olympics that volleyball has been played in the Coliseum.

Noteworthy
Senior Monique Mead reached the 2,000 career point milestone against Wake Forest when she recorded 20 points. Mead now has 2026 points on the season and is the first player to accomplish the feat in the last 10 years.

GTVB (14-5, 6-3 ACC)
Tech split a pair of matches last weekend, earning its first road win in a sweep of Wake Forest, before falling to Duke in five sets. The Yellow Jackets tallied a season-high five solo blocks against Wake Forest and freshman Chanell Clark-Bibbs led the team with two solo stuffs.

Georgia Tech is 7-3 in its last 10 matches, including six sweeps, and the team is fifth in the ACC standings. As a team, the Yellow Jackets are first in the ACC in service aces (130, 1.91/set), second in hitting percentage (.275) and third in opponent hitting percentage (.161).

Georgia (11-7, 5-4 SEC)
Georgia took care of two conference foes this past weekend, sweeping Auburn and defeating Ole Miss, 3-2. The Bulldogs are 5-5 in their last 10 matches and sit in fifth in the Eastern Division of the SEC.

The Bulldog attack is led by three players averaging at least 2.00 kills a set – Brittany Northcutt (2.90), Briana Bahr (2.67) and Tirah Le’au (2.83). In the back row, Allison Summers leads the team with 4.52 digs per set and is third in the SEC.
