Volleyball At No. 13 Duke Saturday

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech volleyball team (10-17, 4-11 ACC) travels to Durham, N.C. to take on the No. 13 Duke Blue Devils (23-3, 14-1) Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Duke is a perfect 12-0 at Cameron Indoor Stadium this season.

Tech enters the match after picking up a 3-1 victory Thursday against Clemson in Atlanta. The Jackets overcame a 21-15 deficit in the fourth game against the Tigers after leading the match 2-1 to pull out the win.

Against the Tigers, sophomore Chanell Clark-Bibbs paced Georgia Tech with a career-high 16 kills and senior Jennifer Percy added 15 of her own. The Yellow Jacket defense was solid and three players recorded double-digit digs in London Ackermann (14), Annika Van Gunst (12) and Zoey Morton (11). Four of junior Courtney Felinski’s nine total kills came in the last six points of the match to propel the Jackets past Clemson.

The Blue Devils are looking to continue their nine-game win streak Saturday night. Duke’s offense hit over .300 for a ninth
time this season as the Blue Devils downed Wake Forest, 3-0, Friday.

Jeme Obeime led a trio of Blue Devils in double-digit kills, amassing a match-high 16. Fellow outside hitter Emily Sklar put down 15 kills of her own and added 10 digs. Senior middle blocker Chelsea Cook continued her solid play, chipping in with 10 kills and four blocks.

Currently in first place in the ACC, Skylar paces Duke with 4.00 kills per set and is one of four Duke players with more than 200 kills (312) – the other three are Obeime (288) and Elizabeth Campbell (230) and Cook (204).

First Meeting Recap
Duke defeated Georgia Tech, 3-0, on Oct. 18, 2013 in Atlanta. Percy led the Jackets with nine kills and Quinn Evans added five kills. Freshman London Ackermann led Tech’s back row with 17 digs.

For the Blue Devils, Skylar led all players with 10 kills and added 12 digs. Ali McCurdy had 16 digs for the Blue Devils and Cook hit at a .467 (8-1-15) percentage.
