The Good Word

Oct. 30, 2006

TO: Fans, Friends, and Supporters of Georgia Tech Athletics

FROM: Dan Radakovich, Georgia Tech Director of Athletics

A special edition of the Good Word to extend a sincere thanks, on behalf of everyone at Georgia Tech, for the unbelievable crowd we had for Saturday’s Homecoming victory over Miami. We all know how important that game was, and your support made all the difference. Our coaches tell me that the fourth quarter was the loudest they have ever heard Bobby Dodd Stadium!

We hope to see many of you in Raleigh this weekend – wear your gold and be loud and proud!

FOOTBALL POSTSEASON TICKETS

We still have some work to do, but with six victories and our position in the ACC Coastal Division, it’s time to start planning for the postseason, both the ACC Championship (Dec. 2, 1 p.m., Jacksonville, Fla.) and a bowl game.

Season ticket holders will receive an e-mail this week with instructions to go on-line and place orders for tickets for the ACC Championship game and all potential bowl games. Paper applications will also be mailed later this week. The deadline for priority orders will be Nov. 17, so please look for the e-mail and/or the mailing. All orders must be placed on-line or with the paper application; no phone orders can be accepted.

THIS AND THAT

Congratulations to our volleyball team for their thrilling upset victory over Duke, their win over Wake Forest and their efforts in raising more than $6000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.

And thank you to all the fans who participated in the Michael Isenhour Toy Drive at Saturday’s game. Our student-athletes collected several thousand toys that will be donated to Toys for Tots, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and other worthy charities.

Finally, remember that our men’s and women’s basketball teams are hosting exhibition games this week at Alexander Memorial Coliseum. The women play Wednesday at 7 p.m., and the men play Saturday at 4 p.m. – plenty of time to get home to watch the Tech-NC State football game!

Again, thank you for your positive response to “The Good Word.” We welcome your feedback at goodword@athletics.gatech.edu While I cannot guarantee a personal response to every email that we receive, please know that they will all be read, so I do encourage your continued participation in this process. Some of your questions could become topics for future issues of The Good Word.

I also encourage you to share this letter with any Tech fan who may not have access to the Internet. Our goal is to inform and engage as many Yellow Jacket supporters as we possibly can.

I want to personally thank you for your continued support of Georgia Tech Athletics as we move forward with our vision for excellence.

Go Jackets!
