I would love to open The Good Word with the old axiom, “fall is in the air,” but with the temperature hovering near triple digits, the only thing that reminds me of fall is seeing our football team head to practice each day. Even with the heat, excitement abounds and the prospects for a truly great season are high. Just think – Georgia Tech vs. Notre Dame in 23 days!
There are a number of items to share with you in this edition, but I thought I would begin with our recent internal discussions about improving our on-line presence and delivery systems. Currently our web site RamblinWreck.com is a collaborative effort between our multi-media rights holder ISP, CSTV-On Line and the Athletic Association. ISP holds the rights to on-line advertising and has for a number of years contracted CSTV-O to maintain the site. Our sports information, marketing and ticketing folks provide most of the content.
Because CSTV-O maintains many other college athletics sites, our web site is somewhat “cookie-cutter.” We have set about to change that. With the cooperation of ISP, we are beginning the process of discussing major design and content changes to our site. We are determined to be on the cutting edge of web technology and to deliver to our fans more unique and thorough news, information and video products from the content that only we control.
It is clear to us that for many of you RamblinWreck.com is the No. 1 way in which you access news and information about our program. Stay tuned in the coming months as we make these major improvements to our on line product. In the meantime, I would welcome any feedback as to the types of things you would like to see associated with these changes. After all, the No. 1 goal is to make RamblinWreck.com the most efficient, eye-catching and user-friendly web site in college sports.

The Great Yellow Jacket Encounter I
Coach Gailey and the entire Yellow Jacket football team will meet and greet fans on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 3-5 p.m. at the north end of Historic Grant Field. This a great event for our fans of all ages, but it’s a great opportunity for kids to interact and get photos taken with the players. This event, which is free, is a great way to get fired-up for the college football season. GT Night At Turner Field The evening prior to the Great Encounter, Georgia Tech student-athletes from many of our teams will be represented at GT Night at Turner Field Friday, Aug. 17. The Braves game vs. the Diamondbacks begins at 7:30 p.m. Our student-athletes will sign autographs and take photos with fans. The marching band, cheerleaders and Buzz will all perform in the plaza area. It should be a fun night. Yellow Jacket supporters can get tickets for half-price by going to www. braves.com/gatech.
