Tech's Stojanovska Places 34th in 200 Freestyle at Athens Olympics

ATHENS, Greece – Sophomore Vesna Stojanovska (Macedonia) posted a time of 2:04.64 in the preliminaries of the 200-meter freestyle on Monday morning to finish 34th at the Athens Olympics.

U.S. swimmer Dana Vollmer finished first in the prelims with a time of 1:59.49, with the top 16 advancing to the semifinals. The qualifying mark for the 200 free was 2:01.33.

Stojanovska will conclude her second Olympic games on Tuesday in the women’s 200-meter butterfly. The heats for the 200 fly will begin at 3:28 a.m. ET on Tuesday morning.

Former men’s swimmer Leo Salinas will compete in his first Olympics on Tuesday in the 4 x 200 freestyle relay. Salinas will represent Mexico and swim a leg of the event in heat one at 4:10 a.m. ET.
