ATLANTA – Georgia Tech sophomore Shilo Ayalon (Kfar Hanassi, Israel) garnered the first-ever ACC Swimmer of the Week award following his record-setting performance in the Yellow Jackets 172-117 win over James Madison on Friday night.

Ayalon opened the night in the 1,000-yard freestyle event by posting a time of 9:20.23. His time shattered the previous Georgia Tech Aquatic Center pool record by over eight seconds. Following his win in the 1,000 free, Ayalon captured the win in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:36.79, which eclipsed the previous pool record by just over one second.

In the meet, Ayalon also competed in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing fourth with a time of 2:01.02.

Ayalon will return to the pool along with the rest of the Georgia Tech swimming and diving team on October 20, when the Yellow Jackets host the University of Louisiana-Monroe.
