AUSTIN, Texas – Swimming the second of his three events, Georgia Tech senior All-American Shilo Ayalon finished 22nd in the prelims of the 400-yard individual medley Friday at the 2003 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Ayalon posted a time of 3:53.01, which was more than a second faster than his preliminary time at the recent Atlantic Coast Conference Championships. Southern California Olympian Eric Vendt posted the top time in the morning session with a swim of 3:43.88. Ayalon’s school record in the event is 3:48.31.
Ayalon now turns his attention to Saturday’s 1650 free, where he is seeded second. He is the ACC champion and conference record holder in the event. Freshman Sam Morgan joins Ayalon in this race, which opens Saturday’s finals session at 7 p.m. CT.
