ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team, ranked No. 34 in the latest ITA Poll, will play host to the 41st-ranked Baylor Bears Saturday at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 noon and will be played on the indoor courts due to inclement weather in the forecast.
The Jackets are 1-0 this dual-match season after posting a 7-0 victory against Georgia State over a week ago, led by freshman Kristi Miller, who is ranked 18th in singles and 16th in doubles with partner Alison Silverio, and sophomore Kelly Anderson, appearing at No. 79 nationally in singles play.
The Bears come to Atlanta with a 1-0 record this spring after defeating No. 31 Florida State a week ago. Baylor boasts a pair of ranked singles players in Carolin Walter (No. 43) and Zuzana Cerna (No. 92), while Cerna and Daniela Covello are the nation’s No. 9 doubles team.
Dasha Potapova will be looking to play her first dual-match of the season after sitting out the season-opening match against Georgia State, and will be playing against her former teammates from Baylor. The senior from Moscow, Russia, transferred to Georgia Tech following a successful three years as a member of the Bears’ tennis team, where she posted more than 65 singles and 35 doubles victories.
Following the match against Baylor, the Yellow Jackets will take a couple of weeks off before traveling to Ohio State for a 12 noon match on Feb. 13.
