ATLANTA – The Yellow Jacket women will play host to 39th-ranked Ohio State Sunday at 10 a.m. when the Buckeyes visit the Bill Moore Tennis Center on the campus of Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets enter the contest with a 7-4 record while Ohio State is 5-4 entering a match at Auburn Saturday afternoon.
The Jackets are led this season by Lyndsay Shosho, ranked 62nd in the nation in singles, and Kelly Anderson, last year’s ACC Rookie of the Year. In their last outing, the Jackets narrowly lost to instate rival Georgia, the nation’s second-ranked team according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, but Shosho and Anderson were able to secure singles wins over a pair of players ranked in the top 10 in singles play. Shosho downed the Bulldogs’ fourth-ranked Agata Cioroch in straight sets in the top singles position, while Anderson defeated No. 10 Shadisha Robinson at No. 2.
Ohio State enters the competition ranked 39th, just one position behind the Yellow Jackets, and boast the nation’s 57th-ranked singles player in Lindsay Williams. The Buckeyes will play Auburn Saturday afternoon before arriving in Atlanta for Sunday morning’s match.
Following the Yellow Jackets’ women’s match in the morning, the men’s team will compete against ACC opponent Virginia at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Bill Moore Tennis Center.
