THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech softball team hosts No. 21 Notre Dame for a three-game series Saturday and Sunday in the Fighting Irish’s inaugural ACC season. Action begins Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and continues Sunday with first pitch set at 1 p.m. on ESPN3 for Tech’s annual Pink Game.
The Jackets enter the weekend with a 12-4 overall record and a 1-2 mark in conference play, while the Irish are 15-3 on the season and will play their first-ever ACC games this weekend.
Parking
Due to the men’s basketball game scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m., fans wishing to attend the softball games are encouraged to park in the Upper Peter’s deck for the men’s basketball rate of $10 or fans can park on the street along Techwood Drive.
Promotions
Fans attending Saturday’s games are invited to play softball bingo. On Sunday, wear pink to match the Yellow Jackets as they don their pink jerseys to play in their annual Pink Game to raise awareness for breast cancer. After the game, kids can run the bases and the players will sign autographs.

Series History
Saturday’s 1 p.m. game marks the fifth meeting between the two teams and the Fighting Irish have won all the previous meetings. The series began on March 27, 1992 in Birmingham, Ala. when Notre Dame defeated the Jackets 1-0. The most recent competition came last season in Orlando, Fla. when the Irish topped Tech, 6-2.
Georgia Tech (12-4, 1-2 ACC)
After dropping two of three games against Boston College in their ACC opening series, the Yellow Jackets picked up a midweek victory Wednesday against Troy, 2-1.
Four Yellow Jackets with at least 10 at bats are hitting about .300 led by seniors Hayley Downs (.429) and Ashley Thomas (.426). As a team, the Jackets are hitting .311 compared to the competition’s .248 clip, and they are out-scoring the opposition by almost 30 runs, 89-60, and out-hitting the competition 129-102.
In the circle, Kylie Kleinschmidt 9-1 and is second in the ACC with a 0.71 ERA. As a staff, Tech is third in the league with a 2.88 ERA and is holding batters to a .248 batting average, which is third in the ACC.
