Tech Volleyball Sweeps NC State for Second ACC Win

ATLANTA–Lynnette Moster and the Georgia Tech volleyball team recorded their second Atlantic Coast Conference win on the season defeating NC State 3-0. Moster led Tech for the second night in a row posting 16 kills and nine assists. The Yellow Jackets made short work of the Wolfpack winning 30-24, 30-18, and 30-19.

“We wanted to make a statement early this season as a team,” stated Head Coach Bond Shymansky. “We defended at home well this weekend and now we have to take our team on the road against an extremely tough Clemson team this Tuesday.

Lynnette Moster continues to show why she is an all-American. She was simply unstoppable,” Shymansky added. “We got some good some support from our freshman tonight. Katie Mohs and Jacqui Beebe stepped in and kept the momentum for our team as we closed out the night.”

The Jackets were powered by senior Lynnette Moster. The Liberty, Ind. native recorded 16 kills on the day and posted a .583 hitting percentage. Moster also recorded nine digs to lead the Jackets. With her performance, Moster moves up to number four on the all-time kills list for the Jackets with 1,471.

Joining Moster on the night was Lauren Sauer who posted double digit kills of her own with 11. Defensively, Moster lead the team with nine assists followed by Maria Aston and Lindssey Laband who had eight and seven respectively. Laband also posted 39 assists to move into tenth on Tech’s all-time assist list with 636.

Tech was aided by several miscues by State. The Wolfpack committed eleven service errors and 17 attack errors. The Jackets also benefited from excellent serves acing the Pack nine times. Katie Mohs entered the third game and recorded three straight service aces for the Jackets.

Georgia Tech out hit State .317 to .175, recording 51 kills on the night. Defensively, the Jackets recorded 37 digs to the Wolfpack’s 25.

For NC State, Melanie Rowe led the team with 11 kills followed by Casey Wyatt who recorded ten.

The Jackets return to action September 28 when they travel to Clemson for another ACC match-up.
