Tech Takes Part In Day One Of Women's ACC Championships

ATLANTA – After day one of the 2011 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships, the Georgia Tech women’s team sits in 11th place after competition in the 200-Medley Relay and 800-Free Relay.

The Jackets earned a ninth place showing in the first event of the night, the 200-Medley relay, with a time of 1:42.38. The foursome of Jessie Mason, Morgan Trickett, Jordan Evans and Kate Riley took part in the event, recording a season best time. North Carolina won the event coming in with a time of 1:37.89, a GT Pool record. Maryland finished second, while Miami took third in the event.

The Jackets did not fare as well in the second event of the night as an early takeoff forced a DQ in the 800-Free Relay. Virginia won the event with a pool and ACC Championship record time of 7:03.00.

Tech will be back in the pool on Thursday for Day Two of the ACC Championships.
